Paint the Town
Mount Pleasant, a small city with the population of 4500, is located in the beautiful rolling countryside of Middle Tennessee. Within an hour's drive of Nashville, Mount Pleasant is just close enough to visit the big city, but far enough away to retain our small town charm. A traffic jam in Mount Pleasant means getting stuck behind Mr. Yoder’s fruit wagon or pulling off to the side of the road in respect for the occasional funeral procession. (Yes, we still do that!)
With our Historic Downtown Business district and beautiful neighborhoods listed on the National Historic Registry, Mount Pleasant takes great pride in its rich heritage. In its early years as the “Phosphate Capital of the World,” Mount Pleasant had the reputation of being a rough and tumble mining town, but by 1906 had become a city of paved street, electric lights, and commercial brick buildings. A stop at the Mount Pleasant Museum of Local History will allow you to experience our history firsthand.
Great neighborhoods, low crime rates, good schools, and the best people in the world make Mount Pleasant a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. Mount Pleasant is a place where porch sitting has become an art form... where takin’ it easy, solving the world’s problems and watchin’ fireflies are all given equal attention on a warm summer night.
Mount Pleasant is a special place…
"as soon as you get here, you’ll be glad you came."

No big superstar was born in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee...
We can’t lay claim to the “Birth of the Blues.” But like millions of unknown musicians that play in bands or sing backup for the stars, Mount Pleasant represents small town America where Americana Music was born and raised.
With front porches as their stage and family and friends as their audiences, the roots of Americana music started in small towns like ours and spread to the big cities.
So come to Mount Pleasant, where we celebrate the amazing undiscovered musicians who are waiting for that big break, and playing just for the love of the music. You never know... the musician you see here today may be the next big star of tomorrow.
